About me

Hello,
Photography has been a major part of my life since I got my first camera nearly 35 years ago. Many things have changed in that time, the industry and the technology mostly but my love for it hasn't.
When I was trying to decide which career path to follow it seemed everyone kept trying to push me away from photography. There were a myriad of reasons why they said it was a bad idea but the consensus was I should do something else. I couldn't let it go though. I kept seeing the rows of magazines and newspapers full of photos and made the decision to pursue it.
I enrolled in the photography program at Daytona Beach Community College and started learning about photography in depth. During the second year I did an internship at Universal Studios Florida. One of the first things I helped work on was a big shoot for their Halloween Horror Nights campaign. It had characters done up in full SFX makeup, we lit up a whole alley on the backlot using multiple strobe packs all synced by wire. I was hooked, I think I learned as much that night as I did in the previous year and a half of school.
That internship led me to freelancing for Universal part-time and then full-time until I finally accepted a staff position several years later. I also started working for Reuters News Service covering many news and sporting events around Florida. I did that for nearly 15 years until everything changed.
Amid layoffs and downsizing in the industry I reached a point where I had to make a decision. After doing something I loved for so long I decided to change careers and enter the aviation field. That has gone really well and I now work as an EMS Helicopter Pilot. I love it too, it's rewarding, challenging and has led me to the next chapter in my photographic life, nature and wildlife.
Recently my wife and I went on a photo safari to South Africa. I can only describe it as amazing. I've always been an animal lover but watching and photographing them in their natural habitat was incredible. I could do that every day and maybe I will one day but for now I'm excited to begin the next phase...
